چکیده
I By adding an impaction plate in a graphite furnace it is possible to separate and collect 6μm particles which are found in cigarette smoke. This allows for the quantitative detection of Cd, Cr, Pb and Mn in air in a direct fashion and quasi real time. It is important to monitor not only direct inhalation of cigarette smoke but also “second-hand” smoking by innocent by-standers. II Most Hg spills occur along gas pipelines owing to leaks, by accident or vandalism, on manometers operating with Hg. There are thousands of metering sites and so rapid field analysis is considered a technical necessity. A method has been developed using KI and I2 as extracting medium. The redissolved filtrate is measured by anodic stripping voltametry (ASV). Results in the range of 1 to 10,000ppm Hg in soil samples can be obtained on-site in less than an hour. III Hazardous gases (He, H2, Cl2) are produced in the process of semiconductor fabrication. For health and safety reasons three analytical techniques are proposed for use in cleanrooms to monitor chemicals. I Determination of metals in cigarette smoke

Determination of hazardous substances in food basket eggs in Tehran, Iran: A preliminary study
Extensive distribution of hazardous substances in food chain and the deleterious effect of their residues on public health are a great concern of the society. Chicken eggs, as one of the most popular food commodities, in different parts of Tehran (Iran) were analyzed for two groups of hazardous substances including some organochlorine pesticides (OC) such as aldrin, lindane, dieldrin, dichlorod...
متن کاملEstablishment of toxic metal reference range in tobacco from US cigarettes.
Smoking remains the leading cause of preventable death in the United States. There are numerous harmful substances in tobacco and tobacco smoke. Among the more than 4,000 identified compounds in smoke, many metals contribute to the health risks associated with tobacco use. Specific metals found in tobacco and tobacco smoke have been classified as carcinogens by the International Agency for Rese...
متن کاملA modified method for the determination of organic mercury in biota [great cormorants (phalacrocorax carbo)] by advanced mercury analyzer
Background: Contagion of aquatic ecosystems to heavy metals especially mercury (Hg) has risen concerns about healthiness of marine organisms. Organic mercury compounds are highly toxic for animals, and its detection in various samples is frequently needed. In present study we have described a new method for measurement of organic mercury and total mercury concentration in great cormorants (ph...
متن کاملConcentrations of hazardous heavy metals in environmental samples collected in Xiamen, China, as determined by vapor generation non-dispersive atomic fluorescence spectrometry.
Non-dispersive atomic fluorescence spectrometry (NDAFS) coupled with vapor generation (VG) sample introduction was applied to the determination of the concentrations of hazardous heavy metals, such as arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury, in seawater, soils and total airborne particulate matter (PM) collected around the Xiamen area in China. Almost 100% sample introduction efficiency was achieved...
